Ray Simpson was born in Scotland in 1938. He grew up in a Christian household, but he never felt a strong connection to his faith. In his twenties, he began to explore other religions, including Buddhism and Hinduism. In 1978, he met a Sikh man named Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji, who introduced him to Sikhism.
Simpson was immediately drawn to Sikhism's teachings of love, compassion, and service. He converted to Sikhism in 1979 and took the Sikh name Ranjit Singh.
Simpson quickly became a dedicated Sikh. He studied the Sikh scriptures, learned to play the tabla, and began to teach Sikhism to others. In 1981, he founded the Sikh Information Centre in London, which has become one of the leading sources of information about Sikhism in the English-speaking world.
Simpson has also been a vocal advocate for Sikh rights. He has spoken out against discrimination against Sikhs and has worked to promote understanding between Sikhs and other communities.
Simpson's story is an inspiring example of how one person can make a difference in the world. He has dedicated his life to spreading the message of Sikhism and promoting peace and understanding.
